I’m a little sheepish to admit this, but I’m kind of a self-improvement junkie.

Life vision documents, yearly themes instead of resolutions, reading self-help books, relentless goal-setting…it’s a lot. But it’s also how I ended up living in Maui for a year, going on safari in Kenya last summer (a dream trip), and running my own AI consultancy.

Last year’s theme was Fun, which turned out to be exactly what I needed in my personal life.

This year, my theme is Creation.

Inspired by the book The Power of TED, the Creator is the opposite of the Victim in the drama triangle. Instead of reacting to life, I want to shape it.

Plus I literally want to create more, by building. ML models, AI applications, actual problem-solving.

So in 2026, I want to lean much harder into creating and spend less time consuming. Less wallowing in what is, fewer newsletters, more getting my hands dirty and making things that didn’t exist before. That’s always been the part that gives me the most energy anyway.
